In the loving memory of Ido Binenshtock

Ido served as a combat soldier and a medic at the Golani Brigade 13 battalion. On the morning of October 7th, 2023 Ido and his platoon were stationed at a small outpost adjacent to the Gaza Strip border. Early that morning a heavy missile barrage started Ido called his parents and told them what was going on. Soon after that, tens of terrorists attacked the isolated outpost. This was a battle of a few against many. Ido and his camaraderie fought with courage and bravery.

Ido managed to send his family a last message “Thank you for everything, I love you” he wrote. They managed to call him again and he said he was wounded in his leg and the call got disconnected.
Ido’s heroic story was revealed only afterward when his commanders and fellow platoon members recounted the battle.Though wounded in his leg, Ido applied a tourniquet to himself and kept fighting and treating other wounded soldiers. Ido was shot in the neck and killed while treating one of his injured platoon mates.

The son of Raanan and Miriam, the younger brother of Gal and Amit, was only 19 years old when killed in action. Ido was a happy, polite, and outgoing child. A beloved counselor at the Scouts, a fan of luxury cars and water skiing, a great cook, and an animal lover.Ido was the heart of the group of his friends, loved his dog “Messi” and took under his wing a kid with special needs, making sure to meet him for Pizza every time he had time off from the army.  His smile, laughter kindness, and playfulness will always be cherished in our hearts.

Remember Ido and hear his story
